Mallard - 12 (Turtle Pond & Lake) American Black Duck x Mallard hybrid - male at the Riviera Mourning Dove - 3 Chimney Swift - at least 4 Herring Gull - flyovers Black-crowned Night-Heron - Turtle Pond (Mayra Cruz - early a.m.) Cooper's Hawk - adult at Tupelo Field (Sasidhar Akkiraju) Red-bellied Woodpecker - female Tupelo Field Downy Woodpecker - hatch-year Tupelo Field Northern Flicker - 4 Tupelo Field (Gillian Henry) Empidonax Flycatcher - Maintenance Field Eastern Kingbird - 2 to 4 Warbling Vireo - 3 or 4 (Warbler Rock (Signe Hammer) & Summer House Meadow) Blue Jay Barn Swallow - flyover Tupelo Field Black-capped Chickadee - Tupelo Field White-breasted Nuthatch - heard in two locations House Wren - 2 early this a.m. (Maintenance Field & Shakespeare Garden (Mayra Cruz)) Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 2 Iphigene's Walk (Sasidhar Akkiraju) Gray Catbird - many House Finch - Warbler Rock (Jessica Newman) & Summer House Meadow Song Sparrow - 2 Bow Bridge Island (one still singing) (Peter Haskel) Baltimore Oriole - 5 Common Grackle - a few Ovenbird - Evodia Field (early) Northern Waterthrush - near E76th Street entrance (early) Blue-winged Warbler - 1 or 2 Maintenance Field/Iphigene's Walk Black-and-white Warbler - at least 2 (Turtle Pond (early), Maintenance Field (Sandra Critelli)) Hooded Warbler - hatch-year male west side of Maintenance Field American Redstart - 10 Magnolia Warbler - Shakespeare Garden Yellow Warbler - at least 4 Chestnut-sided Warbler - Summer House Meadow (Jessica Newman) & Maintenance Field (early a.m.) Canada Warbler - 3 Northern Cardinal - males & females Jordan Spindel reported a Swainson's Thrush between Tupelo Field & Azalea Pond at 10:26AM (via twitter). John Antory reported a Ruby-throated Hummingbird perched on the fence at the Tupelo Field at 3:04PM (via twitter). A Giant Swallowtail (butterfly) SE of the Maintenance Field 9:19AM moved to the Tupelo Field. Yesterday (8/19) this southern species was reported (via twitter) by Karen Fung at the Grassy Knoll and by Gerard Savaresse in Fort Tryon Park.
