Highlights: Windy conditions made it difficult to find many of the smaller 
birds. An Orange-crowned Warbler at the Grassy Knoll/Sparrow Ridge was one 
exception. Raptors included Turkey Vulture, Peregrine Falcons, and Cooper's 

Canada Goose - 22 Meer, several flocks flying north out of the park, flock of 5 
Northern Shoveler - 14 Meer
Mallard - 30
Bufflehead - 2 (male & female) at the Pool
Ruddy Duck - 5 on the Meer
Mourning Dove - 6
Turkey Vulture - flyover 112th St. & Malcolm X Blvd. 10:58AM (tweet from 
Cooper's Hawk - immature chasing immature Red-tailed Hawk at the Loch (Diane 
Red-tailed Hawk - 2 or 3 flyovers, plus one immature chased by Cooper's Hawk
Red-bellied Woodpecker - Loch
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - north end of Children's Glade
Northern Flicker - 2 Conservatory Garden
Peregrine Falcon - 2 chasing pigeon flock over 111th St. & Malcolm X Blvd.

Blue Jay - 8
Brown Creeper - in North Woods near Blockhouse
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2 Grassy Knoll 7:30am (one with the Orange-crowned 
Hermit Thrush - 2 (Conservatory Garden (Tom Ahlf), North Woods)
American Robin - migratory flocks over north end of park entering from NE, 
heading West, 3 in crab apples NW Pool
Northern Mockingbird - 2 (North Meadow Ballfields, Conservatory Garden)
Song Sparrow - 3 to 5 along the Meer (Bob - early)
White-throated Sparrow - 10 to 15 most of these at the Green Bench
Dark-eyed Junco - 35 (25 at the Blockhouse)
Red-winged Blackbird - around 250 flying over in flocks from 7am to 8:30am NE 
to West across north end of park
Common Grackle - flock of 40 migrants flying NE to West
Northern Cardinal - residents at the Loch
