Two American White Pelicans flew in formation over Peconic Bay from north to south yesterday (Dec. 17) afternoon, around 1230 p.m. Aaron Virgin, Sandra Reynolds and Steve Biasetti observed them from Red Cedar Point (Hampton Bays), as the birds crossed the bay, then slowly circled to hight elevation over the Hampton Bays pine barrens. If they are still somewhere on Long Island today, birders may want to keep an eye out.
(This report was requested to be posted by Steve Biasetti, Director of Environmental Education, and Aaron Virgin, Vice President, both with Group for the East End. The birds were reported as part of the Quogue-Water Mill CBC) Eileen Schwinn -- NYSbirds-L List Info: http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsWELCOME.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsRULES.htm http://www.NortheastBirding.com/NYSbirdsSubscribeConfigurationLeave.htm ARCHIVES: 1) http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/maillist.html 2) http://www.surfbirds.com/birdingmail/Group/NYSBirds-L 3) http://birding.aba.org/maillist/NY01 Please submit your observations to eBird: http://ebird.org/content/ebird/ --
