The two Caspian Terns found by Chris Gangemi two days ago continue on the
Carmans River. They put on a great show late this afternoon between the boat
launch and lower part of the river, one bird catching a large fish which it
eventually managed to swallow after flying around with it for a couple minutes,
half the fish hanging out of its bill. There was a different kind of swallow
spectacle going on as well, with 5 species of swallow (Barn, Tree,
Rough-winged, Bank and Purple Martin, in order of abundance, high to low),
foraging their way up and downstream.
