Marc Passmann and I spent some hours this morning scanning sod fields. Along=
CR 51 between Eastport and Riverhead, we had ca. 15 Black-bellied Plovers and
the day’s only American Golden Plover, an adult in nearly complete breeding
plumage. The roads east of Riverhead yielded very few birds other than 13 BBPL
and many Killdeers from Sound Avenue east of Roanoke Avenue. We found no birds
along Alvah’s Lane and Depot Road in Cutchogue. All in all, rather
disappointing.
