The Stone Bridge Nighthawk Watch finished with a whimper with only five birds being seen during the last week. The best day was 9/11 when we 306 nighthawks.
We saw thousands of blackbirds flying north each day toward the end of the count as they headed to roost in the Phragmites stands in Conscience Bay and hundreds to thousands of robins flying southeast. Several Peregrines flew by including one bird with prey in its talons. Many cormorants passed to the southwest and migrating ospreys both sounth and west. Occasional warblers and the daily movements of kingfishers and wood ducks. Too many balloons, both individually and in bunches, floating by though.......
