Tom Reichert called regarding an Evening Grosbeak feeding with Purple Finches (and many robins) in some crabapple type trees along the Golf Course Road of Sunken Meadow Park, Suffolk Co, approximately at (40.9123501, -73.2632183).
I watched the bird fly out with most of the Purple Finch and fly roughly north when a Merlin blasted through, but the finches are starting to return. Tom mentioned in the time he was here it would continue to return to the same crabapple trees so perhaps it will come back.
