We were fortunate to see the Pileated Woodpecker at Shu Swamp Preserve
(Mill Neck, Long Island) this afternoon around 1:00. We followed the trail
to the south (off the parking lot) which runs parallel to Frost Mill Rd.
and headed in towards Beaver Brook. We were able to see him just east as
well as west of the stream. He called a few times in the hour we were
there and didn't stay in one spot long flying from tree to tree and high up.

He was a wonderful bonus to our birding today as we had set out to the see
the Pacific Loon by Oyster Bay Yacht Club.. The loon did not disappoint :)

Happy birding everyone!
Sincerely,
Raina
