The Townsend’s Solitaire continues to be seen at the same location on high valley road in Copake Falls. One of the original finders of the bird has asked that people looking for this bird stop using playback, since Townsend’s Solitaire is fairly territorial on winter habitat. The reward for using playback is quite small in relation to the cost of agitating/harassing the bird, so hopefully anyone chasing the Solitaire will respect this reasonable request.
In other region 8 news, over the last week, several Pine Grosbeaks have been found in Southeastern washington county, in White Creek, on the Vermont Border, and in “downtown” Salem, where 24 were reported yesterday and where several people (including me) found scattered birds this morning.
