Highlights (Sunday): Snow Goose (continuing), Bald Eagles, Brown Thrasher (4), American Kestrel, Turkey Vulture & Cooper's Hawk. Also a Coyote climbing up Vista Rock. A male Evening Grosbeak continues in Riverside Park. Highlights (Saturday): An Eastern Phoebe spotted by Matthieu Benoit was the highlight on a cold & windy Saturday. Snow Goose - 1 adult continues at the Harlem Meer Canada Goose - very few (Meer, Reservoir, Turtle Pond, Lake) Northern Shoveler - 10 (2 Meer, 7 Turtle Pond, 1 Lake) Mallard - 22 Reservoir, 5 Turtle Pond, flyover flock of around 40 Great Lawn Bufflehead - pair Reservoir Ruddy Duck - 9 Harlem Meer Mourning Dove - 3 American Coot - 3 (2 Reservoir, 1 Lake (Mark Siegeltuch & Andrea Hessel)) Herring Gull - 13 Reservoir & a few flyovers Great Black-backed Gull - 2 Reservoir Double-crested Cormorant - 2 flyovers Great Lawn Turkey Vulture - flyover Evodia Field Cooper's Hawk - immature with full crop over Boathouse Cafe Bald Eagle - 2 adults mixing it up over 5th Ave./Cedar Hill (Bill Perro) Red-tailed Hawk - 3 (immature Riviera (Bob - early), adult pair San Remo) Red-bellied Woodpecker - several locations Downy Woodpecker - feeders & Willow Rock Northern Flicker - 2 (Oven (Karen Evans), Weather Station (Bob, Deb after lunch) American Kestrel - male (Boathouse & Turtle Pond Dock) Blue Jay - several locations American Crow - 2 flyovers (Turtle Pond & Swampy Pin Oak (Mark Siegeltuch)) Black-capped Chickadee - Boathouse, Tupelo Field Tufted Titmouse - still many White-breasted Nuthatch - 7 American Robin - fewer than last week Brown Thrasher - 4 Maintenance Field (Bill Heck) American Goldfinch - 14 at Evodia Field feeders, others in Ramble Eastern Towhee - male Maintenance Field (Bob - early) Song Sparrow - uttering a few notes east of Evodia Field White-throated Sparrow - many Dark-eyed Junco - 3 hill south of Conservatory Garden Red-winged Blackbird - males (2 or 3 Feeders, 1 Gill Overlook, 4 Harlem Meer) Common Grackle - at least 70 Northern Cardinal - 7 Mark Siegeltuch reported that the male Evening Grosbeak was seen by many near Grant's Tomb at around 3pm Sunday.
