Highlights: 16 Species of Wood Warblers, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Cedar Waxwing. Termite hatches near the Lily Ponds and elsewhere at the north end. Canada Goose - 7 Mallard - 25-30 Mourning dove - 6 Chimney Swift - around 2 dozen low over termite hatch at Lily Ponds Ruby-throated Hummingbird - in honeysuckle shrub uphill from Conservatory Garden Solitary Sandpiper - west side of the Pool Herring Gull - 5 Great Black-backed Gull - 1 Reservoir (Bob - early) Double-crested Cormorant - 20-30 Great Egret - 1 at Reservoir (Bob - early) plus a dozen flyovers Snowy Egret - flyovers Black-crowned Night-Heron - juvenile at Harlem Meer island (Sharon) Red-tailed Hawk - 2 adults attending nest Cardinal Cooke Bldg. 5th Ave. & 105th Red-bellied Woodpecker - 3 Downy Woodpecker - 2 at the Loch (1 hand-fed, another at nest hole) Northern Flicker - flyover at the Pool Great Crested Flycatcher - heard near the Lily Ponds Eastern Kingbird - pair at the Harlem Meer Eastern Wood-Pewee - heard south of the Blockhouse (David Barrett) Warbling Vireo - 5 Red-eyed Vireo - 1 at the Loch (Deb) Blue Jay - 5-10 Barn Swallow - flycatching with swifts at Lily Ponds termit hatch White-breasted Nuthatch - east end of the Loch Veery - 3 Swainson's Thrush - 1 near the Blockhouse wood Thrush - 1 heard at the Loch American Robin - 25-30 Gray Catbird - 10 Northern Mockingbird - attacking Red-tailed Hawk at nest Cedar Waxwing - 1 near Lily Ponds (David Barrett) House Finch - 3 heard White-throated Sparrow - 10 Swamp Sparrow - west end of the Pool Orchard Oriole - female s. side of Pool, 2nd-year male near Conservatory Garden Baltimore Oriole - 10 Red-winged Blackbird - 8-10 (2 females) Common Grackle - 5-6 Ovenbird - 3-5 Northern Waterthrush - 4-5 Black-and-white Warbler - 5 Common Yellowthroat - 5-10 American Redstart - 5-10 Cape May Warbler - 3 females Northern Parula - 5-8 Magnolia Warbler - 5-10 Yellow Warbler - 3 Chestnut-sided Warbler - 3 Blackpoll Warbler - 2 males at the Lily Ponds Black-throated Blue Warbler - 5-8 (including 2 females) Yellow-rumped Warbler - 3-5 Black-throated Green Warbler - 3 Canada Warbler - 1 male at the Pool Wilson's Warbler - 2 (male & female) north side of the Pool Scarlet Tanager - 4 (2 males, 2 females) Northern Cardinal - 5-10 Indigo Bunting - Great Hill -- E.J.
