Canada Goose - 15 on the Lake, more at the Reservoir Northern Shoveler - around 50 Turtle Pond, more at the Reservoir Gadwall - 2 at the Pool (male & female- Deb-early) Mallard - not many Green-winged Teal - female continues at the Pool (Deb-early) Greater Scaup - male continues at the Pool (Deb-early) Lesser Scaup - 2 (male continues at the Pool, female northwest Reservoir (Deb-early)) Bufflehead - 2 southwest Reservoir Hooded Merganser - 8 Ruddy Duck - around 200 Reservoir Mourning Dove - 35 (most of these under a Sweetgum at the Great Lawn) American Coot - 4 Herring Gull - around 50 Reservoir Great Black-backed Gull - 10 Reservoir Great Blue Heron - immature Turtle Pond island Cooper's Hawk - 2 (immature Turtle Pond, adult female at Oven (Bob-early)) Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 flyover Ramble Red-tailed Hawk - 3 Downy Woodpecker - 2 Ramble Blue Jay - 5 White-breasted Nuthatch - 1 Evodia Field Feeders American Robin - 5 (a tiny fraction of the number last week) House Finch - 15-25 American Goldfinch - 3 Dark-eyed Junco - 1 female Maintenance Field White-throated Sparrow - 50-100 Red-winged blackbird - 3 Common Grackle - 10-15 Northern Cardinal - 5-10 -- For additional reports on NY County birds, see the Manhattan Bird Alert @BirdCentralPark on twitter managed by David Barrett. -- Happy Holidays, Deb Allen
