Zoom Presentation: Dr. Tricia Miller & Michael Lanzone "Unraveling the 
Mysteries of the Eastern Golden Eagle"February 15, 2023, 7:30 PM Eastern Time

Dr. Tricia Miller and Michael Lanzone will provide insights into what is known 
about Eastern Golden Eagles, including distribution, timing of migration, 
behavior, routes traveled, conservation issues and concerns, and best times and 
places to see Golden Eagles.
Dr. Tricia Miller has been studying birds for over 20 years and has been 
tracking and studying eagles for more than 15 years. She has a long-standing 
interest in bird conservation and spatial ecology. Dr. Miller works as a Senior 
Research Wildlife Biologist and the Executive Director of Conservation at 
Science Global where she studies movement ecology and conservation of raptors, 
especially eagles. Her research integrates telemetry and spatial modeling to 
address conflicts with human development. She is adjunct faculty at West 
Virginia University and received her B.S. in biology from the University of 
Nevada, Las Vegas, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in ecology from Penn State. Her Ph.D. 
research focused on the eastern North American population of Golden Eagles.
Michael Lanzone is the CEO of Cellular Tracking Technologies, a company that 
develops high-end animal tracking devices for studies conducted across the 
globe. Over his career he has worked for various state and federal agencies and 
not-for-profit organizations across the country. He was director of the 
Bioacoustics and Biomonitoring Laboratory at Carnegie Museum of Natural 
History’s Powdermill Avian Research Center, co-founder of the Eastern Golden 
Eagle Working group, and was Assistant Coordinator for the 2nd Pennsylvania 
Breeding Bird Atlas. He has worked on many other research and banding projects 
across the world and has specialized in technological advancements and applied 
conservation in ornithology including bioacoustics and Golden Eagle ecology and 
conservation.
