Gather with birders and birding leaders from across the Empire
State—as well as birding friends from Connecticut, New Jersey and
beyond—for a weekend celebrating the birds and birders of New York.

This 2023 annual meeting of the New York State Ornithological
Association (NYSOA) will include a wealth of birding activities—field
trips, special speakers, research updates, and vendors—as well as a
gathering of delegates from among the 40+ bird clubs and Audubon
chapters affiliated with NYSOA. (More about NYSOA:

The 2023 New York Birders Conference / NYSOA Annual Meeting is being
hosted by Saw Mill River Audubon at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel &
Conference Center in Tarrytown. Some Friday night activities will also
be held at Croton Point Park.

2023 Conference Highlights

* Saturday night banquet speaker will be David Allen Sibley, renowned
bird artist and field guide author.

* Tom Stephenson, co-author of The Warbler Guide will be our workshop
keynote presenter on Saturday afternoon.

* Birding field trips on Saturday and Sunday mornings will visit
locations along the Hudson River and Long Island Sound focused on NYS
Important Bird Areas, with good timing for the fall migration of many
neotropical migrants, shorebirds and raptors.

* Additional Saturday afternoon workshop topics will include birding
skills, bird photography skills, advocacy and the arts.

* Saturday afternoon paper/poster sessions will present research
topics in ornithology. Undergrad, graduate and post-grad researchers
are invited to apply now for paper or poster presentations:

* Vendor invitation is here: https://www.nybirders.org/vendors with a
call for individual artisans, not-for-profits, small and large
businesses, and agencies related to birds and birding, other wildlife,
bird habitats, and outdoor recreation.

* Delegates for the New York State Ornithological Association annual
meeting will gather Saturday afternoon. All are welcome to attend this
meeting.

* Are you a NYSOA delegate for a bird club or Audubon chapter that has
a current NYSOA organization membership? This will entitle you to
reduced conference registration. Individual NYSOA members will also
receive a conference benefit. Join or renew your NYSOA membership as
individual or on behalf of your chapter/club here:
https://nysoa.wildapricot.org/

* Friday night activities at Croton Point Park will include a bird
quiz for all ages run by the NYS Young Birders Club, and a
birding-themed campfire and night birding for young birders.

* Low cost cabin camping at Croton Point Park will be offered first to
members of the NYS Young Birders Club and their families, and then to
other conference participants, space permitting. (Join the NYS Young
Birders Club here: http://www.nysyoungbirders.org/) We have reserved
all the cabins at Croton Point for the NYSOA weekend and reservations
will only be through the conference website starting April 1st.
