The Taiga Bean-Goose was not seen today, as far as I’m aware. This is the first day that at least one birder did not see the goose since January 8th. It may still be around, since the Ross’s x Cackling Goose was recorded by multiple observers at Hudson Crossing today, or it may have moved on. I don’t know how exhaustively birders searched the Northumberland and Gansevoort fields today, or if there was any searching up the Battenkill. I do know that several people staked out Hudson Crossing without success, and birders who did check fields in Northumberland came up empty.
This is not the first time this goose has disappeared - it was missing for two days after Karen Randall’s initial sighting, and for several days after John Hershey’s photos confirmed it as a Bean-Goose. And it was missing for almost the entire day of January 12th before the McKays found it in Greenwich. So it may very well turn up again, or perhaps it will reappear elsewhere.
