Only anecdotal - I've had issues with eAccelerator years ago, so went the APC way instead. APC is almost certainly going to be bundled as the standard opcode cache in PHP6. Rasmus is one of the project leads and the APC team has George Schlossnagle, Ilia Alshanetsky, Sara Golemon and Marcus Borger in it... all brilliant minds in the PHP internals world.
