I love IE problems.

One thing I can suggest is watch out for the "position" attribute.
When you have conflicting positions, it seems it is never the layer  
that you want on top that actually goes on top.

In my experience, if you absolutely position the menu, then don't have  
any positioning on the content the menu should appear over the  
content.... should..

You never can tell with IE what's about to happen.
