I don't have much to help for ZenCart and OsCommerce, but I agree with David on
using Zen over OSC. The latter project is dead and only the community are
propping up any activity there last I looked. In my experience, you have quite
a bit of work to do to get an out-of-the-box installation of OSC secure and SEO
friendly.

Depending on client requirements, take a look at Magento. It does have issues
running on some hosting solutions, and it's a pretty steep learning curve for
developers (built on Zend Framework), but it's probably the best Open Source
Ecommerce solution available now.

There is also a DPS module available for it:
http://www.magentocommerce.com/extension/reviews/module/281/fontis-payment-express

We tried an older version of that plugin months ago, and had problems with it
and had to write our own. But the maintainer appears to have done quite a bit
of work on it since.

Cheers
Aaron

  Hi Paul,

I can't actually answer your question as such, but I have used PXPost with
oscommerce, and that is curl based.

I have also used paystation with ZenCart, and it redirects to their website
for payment, so no curl, just POST'ed form. I seem to recall that paystation
was a bit cheaper.

I would also recommend ZenCart over oscommerce, although quite similar,
ZenCart offers more "tools" for the site administrator - at least with the
versions I used.

  Hope that helps.

Subject: [phpug] zencart / oscommerce and DPS PXPay

  Hi people smarter than me,

I'm scoping a request for a client and they want a 'shopping cart' solution
with integrated payment.

I've used PXPay and PXAccess before, but when I used PXPay last, we had
access to the server to set up cURL etc, so it was pretty straightforward. This
will be a shared host solution, so I'm trying to find a solution which isn't
too dependent upon extra software needing to sit on the webserver.

I notice that ZenCart has a PXPay module - has anyone used this? Does anyone
know whether it uses cURL or sockets?

Any help or jabs in the right direction appreciated.

  :)
  Paul
