Today Microsoft released a new free product named Web Platform
Installer, aimed at making both PHP and .NET environments on Windows
much much easier to get going on XP, Vista, Windows 2003 and 2008. You
can think of this as a properly supported, Microsoft-based,
alternative to products like http://www.wampserver.com

Alongside this is a gallery of web applications; a directory of free
software which is known to work well on Windows.

Currently SilverStripe and Drupal and Wordpress are some of the 10
initial applications in the gallery.

Developers can submit their own applications to the Microsoft web app
gallery, similar to facebook and iPhone application submissions.
