Ever thought of abstracting the output layer as well? I got my data records to assemble themselves into data schemas based on keys and their control breaks. Its a tricky problem to solve in general, but the payback was a reduction in complexity in the output code for documents and reports etc, . because the structural problem was already solved before the final output processing began.
