Hello all (apologies for the cross post), I'm looking for people in the South Island would have a) made a submission regarding the impending Patents Bill and b) would be willing to make an oral presentation in support of their submission - even if they didn't request one on submission.
I'm looking because my colleagues and I met with Lianne Dalziel last week (who is the chairperson of the commerce select committee advising government on this bill) and she suggested that if we could get *10 submitters to request oral presentations,* the committee would consider coming to Christchurch to reduce travel costs/hassles for South Island-based presenters. We already have at least 3 submitters who would like to present. We also have some good ideas to support our anti-software patent position in front of the committee and would be happy to talk to other would-be submitters. If you're interested in joining us to get a chance to speak to the committee in Christchurch - regardless of whether you're pro or anti-software patents - please let me know and we'll get organised.
