Hello, Good point. I have thought about this, but from a different angle: by using a form I would cut out the 50% of applicants that don't fill out a form, which would save me time. On the other hand I have had applicants use this form creatively in the past, either minimalisticly or by rearranging it, and i 'm not quite ready to miss out on these applications yet.
We do also accept any text format for the application form, if it is 100% complete. P.S.: past experience shows explaining this doesn't increase the amount of complete responses P.P.S.: yes you do have to consider .doc regularly to work at our service company Kind regards, Jochen Mobile: 021 567 853 Phone: 09 630 3425 Email: [email protected] Skype: jochendaum Web: www.automatem.co.nz On Jan 13, 2010 5:08 PM, "Richard Clark" <[email protected]> wrote: Not a comment on you specifically, but do people still expect to fill in word docs when applying for this kind of position? I mean, if you were a job agency then sure, they're all so far behind the times half the time they want you to fax something, but a tech company? surely it wouldn't take 10 minutes to set up a suitable form, either locally or via Google Forms/FormSpring. I guess there's something to be said for the idea that someone who couldn't be bothered dealing with your .doc probably isn't interested enough for the position anyway, it just struck me as odd.
