He's a little sour (rightly or wrongly depending on your interpretation and knowledge of the phc project).

Seems pretty rich that Facebook told him they were considering a patent for their PHP compiler - I assume that meant the patent application will be a bit broader than just what they have built.

Still, that wouldn't have surprised me one bit somehow.
