"Horses for Courses" really.

If I was already using Oracle in a production environment, and needed to
install something like SilverStripe, I would prefer to use the DB
infrastructure I had in place already. Why install something like
MySQL/Postgres when you are already paying through the rectum for Oracle? :P

Granted the market for this is possibly small, especially in NZ (think global!
:P), but if you can boast multiple DB support in a commercial environment,
it'll make the product more attractive :)

Oracle is an amazing Database - just at a price.
MySQL (even with the innoDB engine, an Oracle product btw), simply can't
compare to Oracles feature set, administration and data security - Then again
we're comparing a commercial expensive product, to an open source, free one.

I would fire someone for buying Oracle where you need MySQL ;-)
