We're looking for an all-rounder who can bridge the gap between technical and business requirements, find innovative solutions to complex software problems using multiple technologies, enjoys working with a wide range of engineering disciplines and isn't shy to promote software development within the company/industry. We're more interested in the right attitude and *proven* ability to pick up new skills than seniority or qualifications (although they certainly don't hurt either!). The successful candidate will have a broad technical background in software development and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to analyse, design and implement solutions. A background in GIS is not essential, but the successful candidate must have a desire and capability to become familiar with GIS concepts, managing GIS data and spatial analysis. The right person will help guide the growth of GIS applications within Opus and will work in many areas of the business. A flexible working style and a willingness to learn are critical. A qualification in Computer Science or a related discipline, or a proven industry track record is desirable. Other key attributes we are seeking include: - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Proven ability to work in a team environment - Experience with object orientated PHP development (or similar language) - Broad knowledge of web development technologies, including: Working with relational databases; JavaScript, CSS and HTML; AJAX concepts - Strong organisational skills This role is highly variable and will suit a self starter who enjoys new challenges, working with a wide range of technologies and developing new business.
