I think the questions show that the Aron has either not done a lot of research into how the commercial aspects of open source work (Joomla is probably a good research example here) or the research has been ignored for some reason - maybe the expected outcomes are not what he wants. I would suggest to do 2 in-depth interviews with successful commercial Joomla component developers (Matt? are you here?)
