Hi all, I've been having a play with OAE over the last few days and I have to say that it is growing on me. As a long term CLE developer and user I really like the way you can set permissions on each area of a site, syllabus and lectures for instance. I also like the way you can instrument the components at runtime. That must speed up development considerably.
On my travels I spotted a few things that probably aren't worth JIRAing, so here they are, for what they're worth: 1. The rendering of a reply link is inconsistent between the discussion widget and the messages area; discussions shows it as text whereas messages show it as an icon. 2. The discussions widget doesn't have a recent discussions dashboard widget. Maybe discussion activity could be included in the My recent messages widget. 3. Where's chat gone? I can't find it, do I need to enable it? 4. When you send a message to someone, they have to refresh to see their incoming count incremented. Would it not be possible to use comet to push the notification to the browser? 5.When you click 'Read full message' in the messages popup, you get put straight into the reply editor. This confused me a bit. Shouldn't it be left up to the receiver to decide if they want to reply? One final thing, I'm interested in getting things like Camtasia and Wimba Create exports working as content. The way this has been done in lessonbuilder is as an unzip and then link operation, the link being constructed from the detected filetype. The same kind of unzip and link approach can be used for powerpoint exports as well. Cheers, Adrian.
