[~anchela], could you clarify? I couldn't figure out what is still missing
here. In the quick test I did the behaviour was consistent now for both illegal
characters (e.g. |) and disallowed characters (e.g. whitespaces). Presence or
absence of namespace remappings didn't have an impact.
