Fix Version/s: 1.0
Done in revision 1589263. I also merged this to the 1.0 branch in revision
1589265 as the risk of extra debug log statements is practically zero and
having them is quite useful for any upcoming troubleshooting, which seems
likely for a 1.0 release.
