I wrote two blog posts talking about how Oak uses TAR files to store segments
and how the data is represented inside the segments. See

Since the posts are pretty technical, and hopefully quite accurate, they could
prove a useful addition to the documentation. Moreover, the posts are already
in Markdown format (see
[here|https://github.com/francescomari/francescomari.github.io]), which should
reduce the effort when importing them into Oak's site.
I will propose a patch if some interest is shown, even if this can take some
time for personal reasons.
