not sure if that works as designed... how was that handled in jackrabbit 2.x?
[~ferlemes], could you check how that used to be in jackrabbit-core? it might
be that we have a bug here (copy-paste from move and clone).

could write a little test-case for oak-jcr that would be in any case helpful.
