For various kinds of tooling it would be good to have additional meta data
available within segments. Like which segment writer wrote (i.e. system or
compaction) the segment, a time stamp, the revision gc generation etc.
Such meta data could live in a regular String record right at the beginning of
the segment. As such it would always occupy the first slot of the root records
and would be very easy to get to in tooling. Additionally it would be written
as regular content and thus wouldn't require any changes in the segment format.
