[~dulceanu], I think you're right. The {{putSegment}} method can be made 
simpler than what it is. Moreover, [~mduerig] brought up a discrepancy in 
handling bulk segments. Both in trunk and in the patch, the {{loaded}} method 
of bulk segment IDs is always called, but their corresponding {{unloaded}} is 
never called. I will include both of your concerns in a new version of the 
patch.
