Yes, I think it would be good to have this fix in the 1.8 branch as well. I
recently came across a repository running on 1.8.x with exactly this problem.
But let's please move the discussion to OAK-9535. As Julian mentioned, we try
to keep the conversation about an problem in the same issue.
