As part of a student project, we need to create an interface to a
cloud system (not Google). This entails making several different
gadgets for different functions. The professor has expressed interest
in a workbench style interface where he can see his GMail, Google
Calendar, etc gadgets alongside the cloud control gadgets.
We've been looking at Shindig as a container for this project. There
are two alternatives that we've found: either run all our gadgets in
Shindig, and then somehow authenticate against Google and run their
gadgets in our Shindig site OR use iGoogle as a container and
authenticate against our cloud site (presumably using OAuth). We
believe at this point that the first option is preferable, partially
because security requirements in the cloud system are based on
personal PKI certificates, which does not at first glance seem to be
very useful with OAuth.

The "too long; didnt read" / Actual question:
Is it possible to load e.g. the gmail gadget into shindig, and if so,
is there any HOW-TOs available anywhere?
Any input on the larger situation would also be welcome:)

We have posted this in the "OpenSocial > Implementing OpenSocial
Containers" groups aswell.
