We pointed out the w3c recommendation referred here to the vendor. Their explanation is different and I tend to agree. The recommendation is for c14n. The prefix was changed in the process of embedding a document into another one, that's rewriting, not c14n.
This prefix rewriting happens in XMLBeans and BEA's SOA stack. Other than messing up XMLDsig, we liked it in all other cases because it clears up the overlapping prefix definitions and makes the doc more readable.
