I suggested you head to the opensocial forums (or maybe iGoogle)
because you are trying to work out how to integrate with their APIs.

One of the interesting things about OAuth was that the authors
originally thought it would be a solution for delegated API access.
It's become that.

But people are reusing the message signing from the OAuth
specification in lots of other use cases, and the best place to learn
about those use cases is to refer the API docs over there.
