What does OBC stands for? Reading "About us" on the web site, seems to me advocacy
has it's place in OBC. "The Ottawa Bicycle Club provides a unified voice for
cyclists in the national capital region to speak to government bodies,
organizations and other groups of interest to cyclists." If that is the case, why
push away CfSC if they are, one, a group of interest to cyclists and two, a group
that in part does OBC's mandate: to speak to goverment bodies? What is OBC saying
to goverment bodies? Not to say that it does'nt say anything, but I am just
curious as to what it does say.
Although I would like to see OBC financialy supporting CfSC, I could understand
M. Burdett disagreement with CfSC's finance demands, if CfSC indeed receives money
from mucipal or regional goverment. But my understanding stops there.
OBC has training for beginer cyclists. These cyclists precisely need what CfSC
lobbies for. To close yourself on CfSC's promotional and lobying activities is to
close on OBC's true mandate, at least from what I read.
What is the problem with advocacy?
