Title:   Assistant Coordinator - Cycling Promotion (Safety and Promotion
Program)

Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

-participating in new and existing initiatives that promote cycling as
an alternative means of transport for people in the City of Ottawa
-coordinating Bicycling User Groups (BUGs) in corporations and
government departments and linking these with each other to promote
cycling to the workplace
-promoting cycling to women through targeted workplace survey and
campaign
-developing written materials indicating the health, environmental and
financial benefits of cycling
-maintaining the CfSC resource centre, ensuring that information is
current and in good supply
-support program coordinator with day to day office operations.
-participating in trade shows, exhibitions and other community events
where utilitarian cycling can be promoted to the public.
-assist in the administration of CAN BIKE traffic skills courses

Availability:

-June 25 to August 31, 2001
-full time, 37.5 hours per week
-some evening and weekend work required

Qualifications:

-two years of university or community college in education,
environmental studies, journalism, marketing or business management is
preferred
-experience in program coordination and educational program delivery is
an asset
-a commitment to utilitarian cycling, and willingness to undergo CAN
BIKE II traffic skills training course
-experience working with volunteers an asset
-excellent communication skills, both oral and written
-good ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
-computer literacy is required (e-mail and office software)
-bilingualism is an asset
