I was cleaning out my file cabinet yesterday and found my notes from when I
officiated at an attempt on the National 15 km TT record by an 18 year old
Gord Fraser. It was on Manotick Station Road, where we once held the 15 km
TTs, on 1987 Sept 17. His 20:57 missed the record by a little bit - it had
just been broken by someone in western Canada. Times have come down a long
way since. He's done about a 18:30 here since then. Of course, remember
that at that time there was no aerobars, but he used two disk wheels and an
aero helmet.
