As a peripatic (peripathetic?) tourer, I'd like to suggest, for next
year, some departure points for some of the Tuesday, Saturday, and
Sunday tours which match up with the end points of OC Transpo
Rack'n'Roll.
This way,
- Cyclists who want to take the bus there or back could be
accomodated.
- Cyclists can start further out of the city than, say, Billings
Bridge or Brittania Beach
- Cyclists without a car won't have to cycle 20-50k each way to
reach remote starts like Fitzroy Harbour.or Stanley Corners
Bicycles are accomodated on the O-train, 2, 95 and 97. Possible tour
starts could be:
- Greenboro station (transit train, 97)
- Woodroffe & Fallowfield (95 SouthWest end)
- Place d'Orleans (95 East end)
- South Keys (97 South end, every bus; further stops lack free
parking)
- Kanata Town Centre (97 West end)
I think there is free parking near each of these.
The 2 goes East to Blair or West to Bayshore, but the 97 goes further
West and the 95 goes further East.
Tours to Quebec could start anywhere along the transitway where there
is parking and bridge proximity.
One limit is that each bus is limited to 2 bikes, but the 95 and 97
run very frequently, as often as every 3.5 minutes.
Another problem is how to divide tours by speed when we are lacking
our usual lampposts.
Comments, anyone?
