Hello all: There will be no organized hikes/skis on December 23, 30 due to the Christmas season.
Last Sunday's hike with the "dirty dozen" turned out to be a 4-hour slog along some lovely red trails, up some steep hills and down some steep dales, through boggy/frozen bits, across snow-covered logs, & of course, some bush-wacking too! We came across one lone skier on Fortune Parkway (Don Moxley) and stopped for a chat. Our first "nibble/piddle" stop was at Shilly-Shally, a cozy little hut just below Khiber Pass, and the second was at the pub in Old Chelsea where we met up with a "long-lost" friend, Ren�e and her lastest beau. I'm going to be optimistic and schedule an organized **SKI** for Sunday Jan. 6 If it dosn't look good for skiing, we will hike. Meet: Parking lot #5 (Penguin. Old Chelsea, left on Kingsmere Rd., follow windy road to where it crosses Gatineau Parkway and there you will find P.L.#5 on the right) Time: 10 AM Suggested route: Depending on conditions, it may be parkway skiing or we may get into the inner trails Bring map, liquids, snack/lunch, wax stuff. Wear suitable clothing. A change of clothes for after is wise if the weather turns foul. See you there!
