COME ON OUT, THE SKIING IS GREAT! Ski for Sunday Jan. 6
Meet: Parking lot #5 (Penguin. Old Chelsea, left on Kingsmere Rd., follow windy road to where it crosses Gatineau Parkway and there you will find P.L.#5 on the right) Time: 10 AM (if you arrive "unwaxed" please give yourself extra time) Suggested route: Depending on conditions/physical ability. From parking lot up Penguin Hill to Ridge Rd. (trail #1) Follow Ridge Rd., to Fortune Parkway at "Gossip Point". Either cross parkway and continue on Ridge to Huron Lodge (more strenuous); Or turn left & take the Fortune/Champlain Parways to the Lodge (longer but less strenuous). Some might like to continue to Champlain Lookout, but remember you haven't been there unless you do the loop around! There are several options for the return route which can be discussed when we meet. * Bring map, liquids, snack/lunch, wax stuff. Because we have such a varied group when it comes to skiing (we are of the recreational sort), we may not all stay together, some turning back earlier, others going further, so a map becomes an important item to carry esp. if you aren't familiar with the network of trails. * Wear suitable clothing. Carry a fanny/back pack for extra clothing, food, drink and waxes. A change of clothes for after is wise. * Most of the group tends to do classic skiing, but, if anyone wants to suggest a skate ski on Saturdays, let me know as there are several in the group who might be interested. * If anyone is planning any night/supper skis, please let me know too, so I can pass the info on! Please note: I assume that everyone who joins us has some knowledge of waxing and ski technique, as I don't offer lessons, only friendly advice. See you there!
