Hello all:

Quite a jovial crowd turned out last Sunday for a glorious ski to McKinstry
and beyond. Conditions couldn't have been better esp. after the previous
week's dismal performance. Several participants were late in arriving due
to their gallant efforts to rescue a damsel in distress (car in ditch) One
of these gentlemen became embedded himself requiring the services of the
local tow truck. Many of the group lunched at McKinstry but several others
continued on to the fire tower for an added challenge. Several new faces,
always welcome, joined the group, one skiing partway with us, and another
two joining up towards the end. A handful plus 2 joined the pub bunch
afterwards for more food and conversation.

SKI FOR SUNDAY JANUARY 27, 2002.

Meet: Parking lot #19 (Hwy 105 towards Wakefield. Just
passed Wakefield turnoff, go left onto hwy 366 towards Ste-Ccile de Masham
(several kms), turn left at Gatineau Park sign through covered bridge,
parking lot on left at barrier.
PLEASE GIVE YOURSELVES AMPLE TIME TO GET THERE. (45 -60 min. depending on
where you're coming from)

Time: 10 AM

Suggested route: Along road turning right onto trail # 55 to do the Taylor
Lake loop (counterclockwise). At the lake, take trail # 56 to the right. At
the trail to the lookout, veer right, still on trail 56, toward Lac Kidder
and Lac Richard (should be signed). This is quite an easy trail I am told &
we can discuss how far we want to go before returning to Taylor Lake and
continuing our course on trail #55, past Lac Lusk turnoff and several day
huts, to trail # 50 and back to parking lot on road.

Bring map, liquids, snack/lunch, wax stuff. Wear suitable clothing. A
change of clothes for after is wise if the weather turns foul.

**Please remember that, because of our varying abilities and speeds, we
don't ski as one big group. Please don't feel that you have to "keep up".
Generally, we try and regroup along the way, and if you are aware of the
route and have a map, all should be well. If you feel uncomfortable about
skiing "alone", please let me know.

See you there!

Social after hike in Wakefield (Chez Eric is a favourite) Bring coupon book
received with ski pass for special deal.
