Hello all: Our ski last Sunday couldn't have been better with a fresh fall of snow making classic ski conditions superb. About 13 of us started out up Penguin Hill. With such ideal condions, 5 of us decided to get off the main trail and do some secondary trails while the rest skied Ridge Rd. to Western hut. It was good to see a couple of "new" faces, but we are still short of female participants. I would like to encourage more women to join us. We have people of all levels of ability and, altho' we don't generally ski together as one "tight little pack" (no drafting benefit), we do regroup at strategic locations along the way. Old Chelsea pub, a favourite place for our apr�s-ski social when in the southern end of the Park, was well attended by 9 of us.
SKi for Sunday Feb. 10 Meet: P.L. # 11 (O'Brien nr. Willson House. Old Chelsea village, follow Meech Lake Road, past Camp Fortune turnoff, towards south end of lake. P.L. on right just before the lake) Time: 10 AM Suggested route: Discovery trail # 36 (blue) to main trail #50 (green). Left to Herridge hut for nibblies/lunch. Reverse the route for the return. Some might like a longer ski to the south end of Lac Philippe. Bring map, liquids, snack/lunch, a range of waxes for the day. Wear suitable clothing. A change of clothes for after is wise if the weather turns foul. See you there! Social afterwards in Old Chelsea.
