Well I'm finally getting my act together and sending out a note to all parties that expressed an interest (I hope I didn't forget anyone) and the OBC mailing list as well. After lots of humming and hawing, and no expressed concerns what so ever about a date, time and place I've decided that I'd best get this ball rolling before the summer is up (!).
So with that introduction let me announce that the first Ottawa Valley Vintage Bike ride will take place on Wednesday May 29th and will be leaving Billings Bridge Plaza parking lot between 5:30 and 5:45 pm. For a social ~2 hour ride to points to be determined by the riders who decide to join us/me. When the next one will happen will also be determine by those that show up for this inaugural ride, but I'm hoping once every 2 or 3 weeks. Hopefully the weather will co-operate, in the case of rain or extreme likely hood of rain, watch for an email to reschedule the event. The idea is for folks to ride older (pre index shifting and aero brake levered, mid eighties is a nominal cut off) bikes that perhaps don't get out as often as they used to. Racing, touring, fixed gear, all breeds are welcome. All riders are welcome as well, especially those who enjoy beautiful old bikes. Please ensure that your bikes are in OK physical shape and up to the task, and as for the riders.... :-). If anyone has any questions about the ride please don't hesitate to drop me a note, and forward this to anyone who you believe might be interested.
