Hello,

I really appreciate all the work you've done in improving cycling access
across the Champlain Bridge. The glass and gravel which had accumulated
on the northbound bike lane was cleared up at the start of the week to
my satisfaction and to that of many other cyclists I trust.

One area on my own morning commute to work which remains very risky is
the cycling ramp at the south (Ottawa) end of the bridge as a cyclist
tries to leave the parkway to get onto the east-west Ottawa River
Parkway bikepath. This section is covered extensively with gravel on a
stretch where a cyclist must lean over critically to make the turn onto
the other path. Even if you've never ridden a bike path, you can imagine
what a tight Queensway on-ramp such as that going from westbound Carling
Avenue onto the eastbound Queensway would be like if it was covered in
gravel in summer, or covered by ice in winter. The same slippery
situation occurs on the very gravelly ramp linking the southbound bike
lane to the parkway bikepath.

This morning the situation was rather more aggravated by the presence of
some of your diligent construction parked driver-to-driver in their
pickup trucks in the middle of the gravelly bike ramp as they shared
their coffee break. They did realize their mistake when I almost ran
into them as I came off the parkway to make that tight curve.

All this to say that: could you please run your path sweeper through the
tight bike ramp as well, and remind construction workers that the
pathway is not a parking lot?

Thanks very much and please keep up the good work with the Champlain
Bridge.
