Hermann,

I think you ought to take your personal beefs off-line. By making your
thoughts private, you won't come across as another one whose ethic seems
to be "if-you-don't-do-it-my-way-I-won't-play".

When the handicap calculation was devised, the fastest 60 plus ride was
23 minutes. Since then, as you well know, it has been brought down to
around 22 minutes. Two years ago, one individual accused me of fixing
the system so I could win. She was serious! Handicaps by definition are
not fair. Ours is not fair to those between the age of 25 and 39.
Anyway, it seems only right to occasionally make an adjustment based on
most recent data.

I'd like to add that I brought back this old event as a bit of fun for
everyone. It's not the Olympics and Lance won't be there this year. The
petty complaining leaves a sour taste. Frankly, there's a tiny minority
posting here that have forgotten we belong to this club for the love of
cycling, and that Board members give of their time because they want to
give something back to the club which has served them so well. The
slagging of Board members on this forum is getting a little tiresome,
and making it very difficult to recruit able new Board members.
