Post for Kyrgyzstan (Proiect realizat de Bishkek Art Center) How does one
bring international art into a country which does not have the financial means
required for the organisation of an international exhibition? The endless
search for sponsors seemed to us to be tedious and unprofitable. We therefore
decided to call on artists to send their work in a parcel or letter. With this
action we want to draw attention to a country which is widely unknown, while at
the same time enriching local cultural activity. There is great interest in
international art, but few offers, and for the majority of the Kirghiz people
travelling is still unaffordable.
Our intention is to give people an understanding of contemporary art, and also
to show that art does not necessarily depend on expensive material and immense
effort. We are looking forward to all the "parcels" and hope for lively
participation.
