for applicants from all countries with the exception to the Nordic countries http://www.studyinsweden.se/templates/cs/Article____10035.aspx The program is targeted to candidates from countries on the DAC list of ODA Recipients (Official Development Assistance) with the objective of promoting democratic, economic and social development through supporting know-how and transfer of knowledge to researchers and advanced students within areas in which Sweden is at the forefront of academic research. For applicants from advanced or developed countries the objective of the scholarship is to enhance relations between institutions and individuals in Sweden with their counterparts in other countries. The program provides PhD students/researchers with an excellent opportunity to conduct research at Swedish universities within all fields of study. PhD students are divided into two categories: The first category consists of students/candidates applying for a consecutive visit as part of their PhD-studies at the home university. The second category consists of students/candidates applying for a scholarship according to the sandwich model (several shorter visits). Holders of a PhD degree from 2003 or later applying for a post-doc research visit to a Swedish university. Master level students from ODA Countries will be given an opportunity to attend qualified programs. A few scholarships are also reserved for short term visits for students/researchers of the Swedish language and literature. The scholarships are intended for guest students or researchers belonging to any of the above mentioned target groups for temporary studies/research in Sweden. Students from the Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway) are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. Students from Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine should apply to the Visby Programme. You are not eligible for this scholarship if any of the following is true: You have already lived in Sweden for two years or more when the scholarship period is due to begin. You have a Swedish permanent residence permit. You have a Swedish work permit and you are not an EU citizen. There is no age limit for scholarship holders. You need, however, to be fluent in English and you must apply for full-time studies or research.
